Ms. Mary Ferguson

1. What do you most love about Penablers?

It’s amazing to me that all of these individuals come together for the sheer love of “penabling.” While we are a paper and ink focused group, there is a sense of levity that allows creative juices to flow. Penablers, to me, is accessible.

2. What specific skills (artistic and otherwise) would you use to apply to your seat on the Penabler board?

My rocking sense of color coding, list making, and “Type A” personality will bring a foundational structure to the Penablers. I genuinely enjoy learning, so discovering new topics for our meetings would be a priority.

3. What experiences (artistic and otherwise) have you had that would enhance your participation with the Penabler board?

My day job is a financial statement auditor, which means I get to see how a lot of different businesses operate. I have had the opportunity to take classes with other guilds and other calligraphy groups.

4. How else might you like to enhance the Penabler experience?

I think the Penabler experience is exactly what it needs to be right now. As time goes on, I think we, as a group, will determine what works best for us. In the future, I’d like to see supply recommendations on the blog, perhaps a crafting mash-up of mediums, or lectures like how to copyright one’s work, how to document your creative thought process, etc…

5. What other hobbies/interests do you have aside from all things pen and ink and paper?

Concerts—live music is amazing.

6. What’s your day job?

I am a financial statement auditor. Basically, I am hired by various companies to review their records to make sure what they say is there really is there and what they say isn’t there really isn’t there.

7. People and creatures you share your home with:

I share my house with one strange, orange tabby named Motsamai.

8. What’s your all time favorite movie?

Forrest Gump

9. What’s your all time favorite book?

The Road Less Traveled
